Two roads diverge, not quite in a wood, but with standing ivy-clad trees to each side. It is early Spring; the sun, still low, casts shadows. But the light in this print seems to anticipate – as Spring days sometimes do – a coming luminescence: it is picked up in the trees, in the clouds, in the very clarity of the air. You can see far to the arc of the horizon here, through the trees to a light-filled blue and purple sky.
