View from the canal by Simon Palmer
Ink, watercolour, and gouache, 1998. All the hallmarks of Simon Palmer: the outsized trees; the carpet of leaves; the far horizon glimpsed through a bridge. Here we claim our spot above the picture, on a bridge; we look down upon the shimmering water. Three locks are ahead of us, and a stretch of seemingly endless canal. Light streams in from the right, creating shadows, and the foreground pool of water reflects with off-set symmetry the billowing clouds above. This is classic Palmer.
Giclée print, Limited Edition (1/950) on 310gsm thick, 100% cotton rag. Hand-numbered and hand-embossed.
