Central picture, between ploughed field and the hedge line, a path runs, directing our eye to the house, but further still to a light-filled sky. The field is planted with potatoes, while the mixed hedge on the left is luxuriant in its vegetation, and highlighted by an intertwining dog rose. This is classic Ravilious: delicate yet impactful.
