Lisa Takahashi is a British-Japanese artist celebrated for her vibrant linocuts, watercolours, and oil paintings that explore the beauty of everyday life. Her work often features bold colour blocks, rhythmic patterns, and a strong sense of movement, particularly in her cycling-themed prints and landscapes. Drawing is central to her practice, allowing her to distil scenes into simplified, decorative forms that evoke both energy and serenity.
She frequently combines traditional printmaking techniques—especially relief printing—with experimental textures, such as wallpaper and packaging, to create layered, tactile compositions. Her linocuts are especially well regarded for their graphic clarity and joyful palette.
Takahashi has exhibited widely across the UK, including:
- Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (multiple years)
- Royal Watercolour Society and Royal Society of British Artists at the Mall Galleries, London
- Bankside Gallery for “The Masters: Relief Prints”
- Watts Gallery in the curated show Linocut Lives On
- Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year finalist exhibitions
- Solo shows such as The Beauty of the Ride at Farnham Maltings
She’s based in Somerset and also teaches printmaking workshops while contributing to Jackson’s Art Blog
