Blue Dungeness Derek Jarman Prospect Cottage by Alej ez
In 1993 Derek Jarman created a film under the name of Blue. It features a single static shot of this colour while he reads a text about AIDS and his impending death. He was partially blind, his vision was interrupted by blue light.
On the windswept shore of Dungeness, visionary British filmmaker, artist and activist Derek Jarman transformed a Victorian fisherman’s hut into a sanctuary of art and imagination.
Derek Jarman (1942-1994) was an English film director who made a famous garden on the shingle shore near Dungeness nuclear power station.
Prospect Cottage and its iconic garden stand testament to his defiant spirit, and have the potential to inspire artists and visitors long into the future.
