Gouache, pen and ink and crayon on paper, (1953).
In this exceptional print Yates depicts scenes, buildings and places
which represent aspects of Britain, from the white cliffs to the white
chalk horses, from the mills and the windmills to the chapels and the
churches. Each vignette captures an aspect whilst the whole speaks of
that notion, ‘Britain’.
