Wood Engraving (1933). Original size 20.3 x
26.5cm. This is the first amongst a series of twelve prints each corresponding to one month in the year. The
images chart the everyday practices of English country life through the
seasons, and were initially accompanied by short narratives written by
Leighton herself. The images are derived from different counties
throughout southern England, but are presented as part of a wider, even
timeless structure: the cycles of rural labour as inevitable as the
passing of the seasons themselves.
Size: 22.4 x 29.3cm; paper 40.0 x 46.0cm
Format: Giclée print; limited edition (1/850) on 310gsm thick, 100% cotton rag.
