Oil (1948). This is very much a typical subject for Vaughan – the study of figures situated in the landscape. But there’s a serene quality to this scene: a flat blue, and then the abstracted background wherein you can just discern the shore; but there are also, perhaps, some over-hanging branches and leaves. A gentle yet attractive portrayal of two boys floating on a punt on a still, blue lake.
