“Capturing Brighton’s Magic: A Photographer’s Tale”
As a Brighton-based photographer, I embark on a visual adventure—one that reveals the city’s hidden treasures and celebrates its celestial wonders. Here’s my story:
- Night Sky Secrets:
- Armed with long exposures, I peel back the veil of darkness above Brighton’s iconic landmarks.
- Imagine the Milky Way gracefully arching over the Brighton Palace Pier—a cosmic dance frozen in time.
- And then there are the aurora borealis displays—both from Brighton and Worthing—painting the night sky with ethereal hues.
- Lunar Enchantment:
- Ever notice those seemingly colossal Moons in my landscapes? They’re deliberate.
- The Moon, our celestial companion, takes centre stage. Its glow bathes the landscape, evoking wonder and mystery.
- Are you curious about why the Moon appears so huge in my photos? Dive into my blog: “Why does the Moon look so Huge in Photos (Brighton edition)?”
- Artists Open Houses:
- In 2022, I stepped into the vibrant world of Artists Open Houses—an exhilarating debut.
- Fast forward to 2023: I clinched the coveted Photographer of the Year Award. A moment etched in pixels and pride.
- And this year, 2024, I graced the fantastic Flamingo House every weekend in May—a creative rendezvous.
- Awards Constellation:
- The stars aligned: I received a “Highly Commended” nod in the Astronomy Photographer of the Year’s ‘Aurorae’ category (courtesy of Royal Museums Greenwich).
- My lens caught the spotlight in the prestigious British Photography Awards—shortlisted for both Street and Low Light Photography.
- People’s Choice? Twice! The South Downs National Park summer and astro photography competitions celebrated my vision.
- And to top it off, Outdoor Photographer Magazine crowned me the Astro Landscape champion.
So, whether it’s star trails or moonlit seascapes, I’m here—capturing moments that defy time and gravity.
